Where I Stand…
On Fiscal Responsibility: Taxpayer Stewardship
Our community members work hard for their money, and every tax dollar sent to the district must be treated as a sacred public trust.
I stand for strict internal controls, data-driven modernization of our financial tracking, and rigorous auditing. I support responsible, bond proposals and sinking funds that address our aging infrastructure proactively, preventing costly emergency fixes down the road. I will never vote to waste public funds on short-term administrative trends.
Principle-Driven Governance
As a member of the Board of Education, my votes are always guided by a commitment to common-sense leadership, fiscal discipline, and a deep respect for our community’s values. Here is where I stand on the key issues facing GHAPS:
On Board Governance: Policy over Micromanagement
Effective school boards look at the big picture. A trustee’s duty is to set clear expectations, protect public funds, and evaluate long-term strategy; not to entangle the board in day-to-day operations.
I stand for stable, structured governance that focuses on policy and holding administration accountable to clear results, rather than micromanaging daily operations. By keeping the Board focused on our overarching Strategic and Master Plans, we empower our educators and staff to do what they do best: teach our children.
On Classroom Technology: Balanced Academics
Technology has a place in the modern classroom, but it should never replace foundational, cognitive development in our youngest learners.
I strongly advocate for a balanced approach to technology in our classrooms. I am proud to have supported our new K-6 Reading and English curriculum that is completely screen-free, alongside an elementary math curriculum focused on learning and applying skills without screens. Our earliest educational years should focus on tangible, offline learning, solid literacy foundations, and expanding innovative programming and career-tech and trades opportunities for older students.
On School Safety: Proactive Protection
Parents must have total peace of mind when they send their children to school every morning, and our staff must feel fully supported..
Student and staff safety is entirely non-negotiable. I brought the dedicated position of Director of Safety and Security to the Board to ensure our facilities undergo expert, ongoing evaluation and protection. I stand for maintaining secure buildings through structural safety upgrades and dedicated, professional oversight.
On Student Success: Everyone Deserves The Best
Every student deserves the best chance to meet their full potential.
I stand for a learning environment and programming that meets the diverse needs of all our students. A public school exists for the betterment of its community by ensuring that anyone who comes to its doors has the opportunity to succeed. I believe that this mission is one of the greatest qualities of public schools and I’m proud to play even the smallest role as a member of the Board of Education.
On Accountability: Total Transparency
A school board exists to serve the community, not the other way around. Public institutions must operate completely in the open.
I stand for complete operational transparency. I spearheaded the initiatives to stream our Board meetings online, release exhaustive presentation materials to the public, and post all agenda items well ahead of time. I believe the community always deserves to know what is being discussed, when, and why.
