A Resident, a Parent, and a Dedicated Public Servant When my family and I moved to the Grand Haven area in 2010, we knew we had found a truly special place to plant our roots. Like so many who live here, we were drawn by the unique character of the community and the excellent reputation of Grand Haven Area Public Schools. As parents, we watched our three children grow up in this district, navigating their education all the way from Young 5s onward. Over those years, my gratitude for the teachers, staff, and community members who poured into my children’s lives only deepened. I realized that a school district this strong doesn't happen by accident. It requires continuous care, dedication, and long-term vision. In 2021, I chose to transition from a grateful parent to an active investor in our schools' future by joining the GHAPS Board of Education. Bringing Professional Expertise to Governance Outside of my service on the board, my professional career is centered on solutions consulting and systems optimization. Every day, I work with complex organizations to analyze operations, upgrade software capabilities, implement rigid procedural controls, and build sustainable frameworks for the future. I even previously did this in the world of education by working at the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District. In 2021, I realized that the GHAPS Board of Education needed that exact professional lens. A school district is a multi-million dollar organization funded by your hard-earned tax dollars, and it deserves governance that prioritizes structural discipline over short-term trends. During my first term, I applied my professional background directly to our district's needs: Modernizing Fiscal Controls: Championing the overhaul of our internal financial software and auditing structures to support our award-winning finance department. Strategic Roadmapping: Helping spearhead the implementation of comprehensive Strategic and Master Plans so the district finally has a stable, multi-decade blueprint for facility management and student success. Rooted in Civic Duty & Community My commitment to public service extends well beyond the school board room. My view of community service was shaped early on in my rural hometown, where my time in the Boy Scouts, ultimately achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, instilled in me a lifelong belief in leadership, duty, and giving back. Today, I continue that commitment right here in our community as an active member of our local Rotary Club, working alongside neighbors to support service projects that strengthen the West Michigan area. Whether I am out supporting our local small businesses, volunteering, or enjoying the beautiful Grand Haven outdoors with my wife, Nichole, our three kids, and our two dogs, Rocky and Nali, my life is firmly rooted right here. I am not running for re-election to chase a political title. I am running to protect and further improve the institution that has educated my children and to ensure it remains safe, transparent, and financially sound for the next generation of Grand Haven families.
